Digg for Parents

First, Csara over at babytalkers (a useful blog and discussion forum for parents) listed our site as one of her 15 favorite “Mommy Blogs”.  We’re in good company on her list and are very proud to be included…in fact, I think this is the first time that we’ve ever best listed as someone’s favorite anything!

I’ve also been enjoying a technology news-round-up service from the venture firm Y Combinator that delivers (via RSS) very focused articles of interest to Internet entrepreneurs.  It has become the news I check most often and I’ve been wanting something similar for parents since there is just so much good content being written and shared every day.  Now, Csara and company have come up with what may be the solution: www.thebabybug.com.  If you’ve used Digg, the format and approach will be familiar.  You submit articles and the community votes on them.  The ones with the highest number of votes reach the front page.  I encourage you to check it out and, if you’re a blogger yourself, tell your readers and submit your stories!

Fox News in Nation’s Capital Features Parentography

Regina Lewis from Fox News in Washington, D.C. featured Parentography in their Cyber Edge segment.  D.C. is a very family-friendly destination with lots of free and educational places like museums and the national mall with all its monuments.

• The global newsletter and blog Springwise wrote up a review of Parentography.

 

• The School Library Journal, the leading trade magazine for school libarians, selected Parent Hacks and Parentography to feature in their monthly magazine and on their website.

I was interviewed last week by San Diego’s local ABC affiliate and they’ve posted the segment to their website.  Having had no prior on-camera experience, I think it turned out well…although I think I should learn to smile more

Site slow down

Within the past couple of hours, we’ve been mentioned on a few very important blogs and the traffic is impacting the speed and accessibility of the site.  We have all hands on deck to keep the site up during this surge in visitors and will be making more permanent fixes as soon as things slow down.  Thank you for bearing with us.
